\i Install
\i0 button below will cause a custom version of Mail.app to be installed in ~/Apps/Mail.app. This custom version adds the necessary files to the standard Mail.app to perform priority mail filtering. Currently, this install application can only install into ~/Apps. You will be asked to quit your current Mail.app, remove the Mail.app icon from your dock, and then dock the new ~/Apps/Mail.app. To complete the installation, you must
\i configure
\i0 your priority recipient aliases using the
\i Alias Configuration
\i0 panel.

\i interim
\i0 release of PriorityMail which works with any Mail.app released under system software release
\b 2.x
\b0 or
\b pre-release 3.0
\b0 .\
\i When using w/ any pre-release 3.0 system
\i0 ... it is necessary to re-install PriorityMail (in ~/Apps/Mail.app) whenever a new version of /NextApps/Mail.app is installed. This is because the installation merely creates
\i links
\i0 to the actual portions of /NextApps/Mail.app which exist at the time of installation... any additions or deletions to the contents of /NextApps/Mail.app subsequent to the installation of PriorityMail "embellishments" will not be included unless "re-installation" is performed.\
When augmenting the contents of ~/Apps/Mail.app w/ PriorityMail, modification of the InfoPanel nib or other files (help, etc.) is not done. Therefore it may be difficult to determine what
\i augmented
\i0 version of Mail.app is installed in ~/Apps. One suggestion is to rename ~/Apps/Mail.app to, say, ~/Apps/Mail-1F.app. Note that one will also have to rename the actual Mail executable (within the app wrapper) appropriately (to Mail-1F).\
... a filter for Mail.app that prioritizes mail based on who is in the recipient or sender list.\
Once
\i installed
\i0 and
\i configured
\i0 , whenever you get new mail, it will display the
\f1 Subject:
\f0 line of a mail message you specify as First Class...\
\f1 Subject: --1-- original subject line\
\f0 \
then you can use Mail.app's
\i Utilities->Sort by Subject
\i0 to read all your First Class msgs together.\
Note that if one of the alias names you specify as First Class is in the
\f1 Cc:
\f0 line, the
\f1 Subject:
\f0 line is automatically prepended with
\f1 --2--
\f0 (i.e., Second Class).\
Alias names specification typically include your user login name and other direct alias names which refers to you specifically. For example, aliases for me include...\
